The Monstrosity: 1999
Keep in mind these pics were taken the day after the party.

Here it is... The naming of the Haunt. Lettering by Jennifer Jones Esq.

This was the hang-out area in the backyard. Unfortunately, most people stayed in the front.
There's the entrance to the haunt on the left, there.

Yeah, it was the year of Blair Witch, so it had to be done. The doorway into this area was
surrounded by orange lights to give the area a pale glow. If you looked hard,
you'd even find a finger in some cloth on the ground.

I was immensely satisfied with a doorway that actually opened and closed. Ah, the simple pleasures...
This creepy old door was counter-weighted to slam once you walked through it from the
Blair Witch room. "Pay no attention to the pulled down plastic on the right."

Behind the door was this dummy standing in the corner, illuminated with a strobe to the right. He
was a lot less slumpy during the party, and his head wasn't so apparently made with a basketball.
These are the formative years... have mercy.

A turn to the right and you hear some trickling water behind the wall to your right. The strobe
light is blaring in your eyes and obfuscates the hanging bat underneath it. A couple more turns
in the pitch black and you end up in my black light room. Completely dark except for glowing paints,
this is always a highlight at my haunts.

Exit from the black light room and enter my bone room. Bones and skulls hang everywhere, illuminated
only by some purple string lights on the left. The skeleton points the way out.

Into my pumpkin room! Enclosed in paneling and illuminated by the candles in the Jack-o-Lanters,
the pumpkin room was a great hangout spot. Take a seat on a bale and enjoy the ambiance.
(Remember! This is post-party. Everything is looking like crap!)

From the pumpkin room, you walk down a smoky, black-lit corridor and are offered a choice of paths.
Do you head straight or take the Witch Way? If you take the Witch Way, you head into darkness and webs.
You take several swerves with the webs getting thicker and thicker....

Till you dead-end at the spider! Illuminated in strobe and larger than life, the spider was the
hit of this years haunt. He looks kinda wimpy in hindsight, but he was tre' chic in the day.

Head back the way you came and work your way out the exit. A walk through a small graveyard,
and you find yourself back on safe ground.

Have a beer! Relax! You made it through, ok.
