My Life Update
06/13/05
WHEW!
Wow... that's been quite a couple of weeks. I suppose I should recap... in the form of some pictures.
Work is going well. The restaurant is finally starting to get the business it deserves. Considering we don't have a liquor license yet, we are taking in a great deal of income, and it appears we will be able to cover our costs very effectively. | ![]() Here's a view off the front porch. |
![]() Chef Green, hard at work in the kitchen | Many of the staffing problems I had since the beginning of this project are starting to come out in the wash. I am still keeping myself strong in the company as a dependable and hard working centerpiece to the experience. I feel like this is a positive environment again... and am happy how my work efforts have developed and grown. It's been a long time since I've felt so strongly about what I do... and it's good to have it work out for my benefit. |
The house on Walker is working towards emptiness. Gabe and Jeff have a place out at what used to be Rhine Village, and Wendy and I will be moving into Dawn's old house on Kinsey. It's hard watching an era of fun and laughs fade into the distance, especially since I'm well aware that my days of "having people over" will come to an end. People from out of town keep laughing when I tell them that Huntsville people think that a 15 minute drive is a lifetime. Hell, Wendy has a 30 minute commute each way in Nashville. | ![]() Saya prunes Gabe's claws. |
![]() Wendy and I color-match her couch | But Wendy and I are very excited about getting our new house together. We've picked out our paints, looked over new carpet, and plotted potential changes we can make to make the environment our own. Her sister's family came over to take a peek while we were cleaning and could not stop beaming how happy they were for us. I'm still working on buying that ring... but it's nice to start working on our home together. |
We've gotten to spend a lot of time recently with our friends who have families. After working hard to remove all the drama from my life, it's been a real joy to be around these stable environments and enjoying reminders about the magic of life. It's not that I don't enjoy going out and being a hellacious wildchild... I've just been seeing too many people who don't know how to get off the rollercoaster without getting back in line. | ![]() John's kids KILL me with cuteness |
![]() Julia Dawn flirts with me | Some people have expressed surprise when they see me having fun with kids. It's not like I haven't always wanted them, it's just that I had slowly gotten to a place where I never thought I'd get the stable relationship that a healthy household needs. In the brain of Wes, a good marriage founded on a healthy relationship was the first step towards having kids. Call me wacky, but I wasn't willing to walk down that road without that compass... It's really amazing to think that I'm going to get the opportunity to finally realize some of my dreams. |

![]() Wetheads! Towel Off! | Our first game went well. We managed to stay going for a while, and even knocked a few people out. But suddenly I looked around and there was no one else in the game but me. I'm quite the little dodger, so it wouldn't be a big deal... if I didn't throw like a drunk girl. Toss my marginal catching abilities into the mix, and you have a dismal situation for our dear narrator. To add insult to injury, I didn't get the rampant crowd support from the audience like Gabe did, so I'm going to blame my failure on them. Curse you, bystanders... a pox on your house. |

Life is good right now. I'm wiped out all the time, and I certainly don't have enough time to offer my computer game addiction. I've also been going out a little more (since I have a night job AND some money) and that's been adding the occasional hangover to my morning. I think I got my first good night's sleep in forever last night. But it's easy to go sleepy when you have good things on the horizon... and that's the way it's going. | ![]() I've been running into Stacy, lately! |

So There You Have It...
